On May 30th, 2023, TikToker[1] and musician @iamactuallyjakehill posted a teaser for his song "Like Whiskey," a country song featuring lyrics about being in a gay sexual relationship, garnering over 3.3 million views in just over a month (shown below, left). The sound was officially released on streaming platforms, including Spotify,[2] on June 20th. The song's original sound[3] inspired over 1,100 uses in two months (examples shown below, right).
