Fake Offensive Beatles Songs refers to a series of song lyrics and music remixes with highly reprehensible content falsely attributed to The Beatles and other artists. Among these, one of the most popular fake Beatles songs is "It's Okay To Leave A Dog In A Hot Car."
Origin
The earliest known instance was a screenshot of supposed song lyrics, then falsely attributed to Taylor Swift, posted to Twitter by user @pixelatedboat on November 11th, 2017.[1] The post gained 6,500 retweets and 23,000 likes in 7 years (shown below).
On July 22nd, 2018, the lyric screenshot was reattributed to The Beatles, as shown as a text conversation screenshot posted to Reddit by user u/Walugii.[2] The post gained 1,500 points and 29 comments.
Spread
The meme later found its way onto YouTube, with various creators composing music tracks of the fictitious song. On March 14th, 2020, YouTube user ryandogsling uploaded a composition and recording, titled “Beatles Lost Tapes – It's Okay (To Leave A Dog In A Hot Car)” (shown below). The song gained 72,000 views in 4 years.
The most popular rendition of the song was uploaded to YouTube by user Billy Cobb on July 10th, 2020, titled “The Beatles – It's Okay to Leave A Dog in a Hot Car”. The video featured a Beatles concert where the fictitious song appears to be performed, followed by fake interviews with John Lennon and Paul McCartney where the song is discussed. The song gained 2.5 million views in 4 years.
Additional renditions of the song soon followed, such as examples from YouTuber Joe Siris (shown below, left) and Stephen Deeter (shown below, right).
The popularity of the fake song inspired other fake Beatles songs about unconventional or disturbing topics. On January 4th, 2021, Billy Cobb uploaded a new fake Beatles song titled “The Beatles – Rain”, which features complaining and arguing about raining weather with significant profanity (shown below, left). On July 8th, 2021, Billy Cobb uploaded a video titled “The Beatles Greatest Hits” promoting a supposed Greatest Hits album with several disturbing-sounding song titles and music bites (shown below, right).
