Joe Biden "Social Norms Are Changing" Video is a viral video apology and defense by former Vice President Joe Biden in response to various sexual misconduct allegations. Following the post, people responded to the video by using Biden's phrase "social norms are changing" as a catchphrase for jokes about his apology.

On April 3rd, 2019, former Vice President Joe Biden tweeted [1] a video apology and defense of recent allegations made about his inappropriate allegations. He captioned the video, "Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I’ve heard what these women are saying. Politics to me has always been about making connections, but I will be more mindful about respecting personal space in the future. That’s my responsibility and I will meet it." The post received more than 21,000 retweets, 140,000 likes and 4 million views in 24 hours (shown below).

Following the post, people reacted to the video, particularly the phrase "social norms are changing." For example, Twitter[2] user @LuxAlptraum tweeted, "Dude 'social norms are changing' is a funny way to say 'I guess it’s important to respect women’s bodily autonomy.'" The tweet received more than 100 retweets and 850 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left).

Others used the phrase to make jokes about Biden's apology, criticizing it for being out of touch with modern culture. Comedy writer Jess Dweck tweeted,[3] "Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I will no longer react to seeing a lady in a skirt by shouting 'awooooga,' bugging my eyes out of my head, and unfurling my tongue onto the jazz club floor." The tweet received more than 445 retweets and 4,400 likes in 24 hours (shown below, center). Twitter[4] user @pattymo tweeted, "Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I’ve heard what these women are saying. Politics to me has always been about making connections, but I will be more mindful in the future. That’s why I’m retiring my 'WINE EM, DINE EM, 69 EM' hat, effective immediately." The tweet received more than 140 retweets and 2,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, right).

Democrats: "Kavanaugh is a rapist, we don't need evidence or due process, even being accused makes him unfit for a seat in government, his life should be destroyed.

Also Democrats: Joe is just a touchy-feely guy, so what if he walked behind a few women and girls then sniffed and groped them on tape, we wouldn't want to ruin his life or career or anything.

It's almost as if moralism ends where partisanship begins, eh?
