Origin
On December 12th, author and illustrator @jonnysun[1] tweeted a toy dinosaur to his followers, writing, "please roast this extremely strangely proportioned leggy boi i won at the bowling alley, i love him." The tweet generated 4,600 retweets, 35,700 likes, and 1,600 replies (shown below).
Spread
Twitter users obliged, offering jokes about the toy. Twitter user @pixieparkerpage made a shredded cheese from the bag joke that gained over 1,700 retweets and 9,300 likes (shown below, left). Twitter user @izabellugh tweeted "this is how substitute teachers come up to u asking if 'ur teacher lets u do that'" (shown below, right).
