Just Tell Me You Can Talk is a series of TikTok parodies in which people confront a toy or pet saying, "just tell me you can talk, I promise I won't tell anybody." Toy Story is often referred to in the video captions as many children may believe that toys can secretly talk after watching the movie.

Origin

On March 14, 2019, TikTok user @karethoneal2 uploaded a video in which he asks a stuff animal to talk to him (shown below). The video has accumulated 87,700 likes and 5,276 shares in a month. @karethoneal2's original sound, "original sound – karethoneal2," has been used in over 7,900 videos over the next month.

On March 19th, @marinaswrld posted a TikTok video in which she pretends to be six years old and repeats the line "Just tell me you can talk. I promise I won't tell anybody" to several stuffed animals (shown below, left). The video has gained over 254,800 likes and 5,486 shares in three weeks. On March 21st, @thisaintjay posted a similar video which has garnered 44,200 likes in three weeks.

On April 2nd, 2019, @bitty_01 uploaded a TikTok video in which she confronts her dog instead of a toy (shown below, left). The video has gained over 100,9000 likes in a week. On April 7th, 2019, @leilaniii2 uploaded a video featuring her cat which has received over 266,900 likes and 6,200 shares in a day (shown below, right)
