Life-Sized Gardevoir Plush refers to a life-size stuffed toy or plushie of the Pokemon Gardevoir that became available for purchase in Japan in early February 2025. The large plush was part of a "Psycho Cyber" series of special edition Psychic-type Pokémon-themed items sold by the Pokémon Center Japan. Given Gardevoir's fan following and presence in Ruler 34 depictions, the release of the plush prompted many internet users to post memes and jokes about people treating the life-sized plush in a romantic manner.

History

The Pokémon Company released a life-sized plush of Gardevoir, a third-generation Psychic-type Pokémon, as part of its "Psycho Cyber" sale on February 6th, 2025. The promotional photos for the sale showed the full-sized plush sitting, shown in comparison to a young woman.^[1]

On January 31st, X^[2] user @JoeMerrick posted a promotional photo from the sale, gathering over 70,000 likes on a post that read, "Oh my… The Pokémon Center in Japan is doing a life size Gardevoir plush. That's certainly a choice."

Online Presence

Initial reactions to the release of the plush showed internet users jokingly expressing fear about what people might do to their Gardevoir plushes, in reference to the Pokémon's popularity in Rule 34 style art.

Redditor /u/GoodPlagueDoctor made one such post to the subreddit /r/dankememes^[3] on January 31st, 2025, gathering over 8,000 upvotes in a month.

Several Japanese Twitter / X users posted photos of their Gardevoir plushes in early February 2025 upon receiving the product, many showing the toy dressed up in various outfits and engaging in different activities.

For example, on February 9th, 2025, X^[4] user @Owl_ShrineBook made a post about dressing up their Gardevoir plush in a uniform from the anime Love Live! The post gathered over 68,000 likes in three weeks.

Also on February 9th, some internet users posted photos of the Gardevoir plush being made to do inappropriate things. A tweet by X^[5] user @sinatiku8810 that day shows the plush lying face down on a bed alongside a caption that translates to, "When Gardevoir is laid face down on its stomach, its rear is amazing." The post gathered over 90,000 likes and 13 million views in three weeks.

More Twitter users posted images of their plush in novel outfits and positions over the following days, including X^[6] user @lana2tomo, who gathered over 30,000 likes on a post showing the plush driving a car on February 10th.

Also on February 10th, 2025, X^[7] user @faker1081 gathered over 80,000 likes on a post that translates to, "I can't buy a life-sized Gardevoir, so I'm making do with something similar."
