About
Make This Face is a highly popular image macro that was popularized on the sites Chatroulette and Omegle in early 2010.
The situation consists of one of the webcammers putting up a picture of an absurd-looking face, be it a small child or an Awesome Face (usually with the words “Make this Face” or “Do this Face” on it), and trying to get the other person to make said face, before screen capping them.
Origin
Due to the anonymous nature of Chatroulette and Omegle, people are inclined to do more than they normally would on a website, which includes both trolling and freedom of actions, which creates a perfect environment for trolling and screen capping (often to the embarrassment of the trolled).
Spread
The macro spread throughout websites such as The Art of Trolling (a website owned and presented by ICanHasCheezburger, one of the websites that helped popularize LOLcats), websites like Buzzfeed, and word-of-mouth through Forums, Blogs, and Chatroulette itself.
Although the funny 'make this face' trolling pictures themselves have spread throughout forums, the vast majority of the traffic looking for 'make this face' is that looking for the reactions of the trolled, immortalized in pictures or videos.
