May Allah Forgive Me is a meme exploitable that uses a screenshot from MEMRI TV in which Wathiq Al-Battat (Watheq Al-Battat), a leader in Hizbollah of Iraq, is captioned to be asking Allah to forgive him for saying a word on live TV. The meme is one of several to have come from MEMRI TV, but has a large amount of variety.

Origin

On September 10th, 2016, an anonymous 4chan user submitted a screenshot of Wathiq Al-Battat, who was on MEMRI TV, with the closed caption "He is even worse than a Jew, he is – may Allah forgive me for uttering this word – an Albanian" to the /int/ board^[1] (shown below).

Spread

On March 23rd 2016, Redditor jeets^[2] posted a photoshop of the Wathiq Al-Battat screenshot, replacing "Albanian" with "someone who prefers Fallout 3 over New Vegas" to /r/meirl. Within two months, the post gained over 8,400 points (92% upvoted) and 540 comments.

On April 1st, 2018, the Redditor Gil013^[3] uploaded a version of the meme in which it crosses over with Polandball, creating a meme showing a French Polandball being upset at the large amount of tourists in their cities (shown below).
