By Allah, You People Are Dogs, continued I Will Go On as Usual, refers to a MEMRI TV reaction clip of an Egyptian chef remarking about prank callers during a cooking show. Online, a reaction image based on the clip achieved virality, particularly on Tumblr where it was recaptioned I Will Reblog as Usual.
Origin
On June 25th, 2012, press monitoring organization MEMRI TV[1] posted a translated clip from a cooking show that originally aired on Egyptian television station Al-Nas TV in January 2012. In the clip, the chef Muhammad Fawzi gets prank called twice, and remarks, "By Allah, you people are dogs. I will go on as usual" (YouTube[2] reupload shown below).
The reaction image based on the clip first achieved popularity in 2017 together with other MEMRI TV images going viral on 4chan and Reddit. On January 15th, 2017, Imgur[3] user PanzerMangier posted a reaction image based on the clip as a part of a MEMRI TV memes collection, with the post accumulating over 216,000 views in seven years (shown below).
Spread
On July 25th, 2017, Tumblr[4] user turkeyreimagined posted the earliest edit of the image, replacing the chef with anthropomorphic Turkey from Hetalia. The post (shown below, left) gained over 90 reblogs and 350 likes in seven years.
More memes based on the clip were posted in the /r/MemriTVmemes subreddit. For example, on May 31st, 2019, Redditor ViperRFH captioned an image of celebrity chef Guy Fieri captioned with the line, with the meme gaining over 130 upvotes in the subreddit[5] five years (shown below, right).
On August 13th, 2023, Tumblr[6] user mexicain-sans-frontiers-v2 posted a version of the meme recaptioned, "By Allah, you people are dogs. I will reblog as usual," reacting to a post by user h0nex (shown below, right). The exchange (shown below, left) garnered over 89,800 likes and reblogs in nine months.
In 2023 and 2024, the recaptioned version of the image achieved significant popularity on Tumblr,[7][8] appearing in multiple viral threads during that period.
