About

Me Voy Matar Weee is a TikTok sound used to accompany videos of animals jumping off of relatively tall structures and a narration that says, "me voy matar wee," which translates to "I'm going to kill myself wee" in English.

Origin

The origin of the meme is unknown. On January 2nd, 2020, TikToker @blackenlack published the earliest available usage of the sound in a dub of the Suicidal Pigeon video.[1] The video features the pigeon jumping off a building as an unseen narrator says "me voy matar weee" various times. The post received more than 688,000 views, 114,000 reactions, 13,000 shares and 1,500 comments in less than 13 months (shown below).

Spread

Months later, on July 14th, 2020, TikToker @alfarito4 dubbed a video of a hamster falling off a table with the sound. The post received more than 548,000 views, 61,000 reactions and 200 comments in less than one year (shown below, left).

The sound inspired a series of compilations by other TikTokers, usually overdubbing videos of children or animals falling or jumping from tall structures. On October 26th, 2020, for example, TikToker @dailyrarce shared a compilation of children fail clips. The post received more than 13 million views, 1.7 million reactions and 26,000 comments in less than four months (shown below, right).
