Oprah's Shocked Reaction refers to a reaction image taken from Oprah's Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Interview in which she's thrown up her hands in shock at a revelation shared by the Royal couple. The image has been used in memes in which people provide humorous captions indicating what might prompt such a reaction.


On March 7th, 2021, Oprah interviewed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, about their decision to leave the Royal Family and the culture in the Royal Family. The interview was full of revelations that left social media and Oprah stunned. One particular revelation shared by Markle about how the Family expressed concern over "how dark" her and Harry's baby would be caused Oprah to throw up her hands in shock (shown below).


As numerous jokes spread about the interview, the still of Oprah throwing her hands up in shock began to be recontextualized with humorous captions. The night the interview aired, Twitter user @hinadirah[1] posted the picture with the caption, "please know i’m going to run this image into the ground, it’s perfect for everything lol," gaining over 5,700 retweets and 59,000 likes in just over a day (shown below)

Over the following several days, the image was used in numerous memes in which people added different captions for the photo. On March 8th, 2021, user @scottgayham,[2] who posted several stills from the interview with the caption, "Me interviewing and getting the life story of my new bestie that I met in the smoking area 5 minutes ago," gaining over 2,100 retweets and 15,000 likes (shown below, left). The same day, user @TimDuffy[3] posted the image with the caption, "When the Goldfish crackers haven’t been flavor blasted," gaining over 140 retweets and 2,400 likes (shown below, right).
