Epic Gamer Grandma, whose real name is Agnes, is a 74-year-old TikToker based in the United Kingdom. She is an avid knitter, bingo player and Minecrafter, although her actual Minecraft playing ability is questionable. She first started posting to TikTok in 2019, most likely with the help of a grandchild even though they've never been revealed.

History

On April 16th, 2019, @epicgamergrandma posted a TikTok^[1] (shown below) of "Me roasting marshmallows By the campfire." The TikTok received roughly 475,000 views and 93,000 likes over the course of one week. Epic Gamer Grandma received her initial following after this video went viral. By May 2019, her account reached over 50,000 followers.^[2]

On May 20th, 2019, @epicgamergrandma uploaded her first TikTok^[3] to receive over a million views (shown below, left). This TikTok, which uses the catchphrase "epic gamer moment," received roughly 2.9 million views and 420,000 likes over the course of one week. Her next video posted on June 2nd, 2019, received over a million views and is a TikTok Duet featuring which SpongeBob character each subsequent Dueter looks like, Epic Gamer Grandma's doppelgänger being SpongeBob's Grandma. This TikTok^[4] received roughly 6 million views and 920,000 likes over the course of one week (shown below, right).

Epic Gamer Grandma started a YouTube^[5] channel in July 2019, but the channel only had one video as of September 2021.^[6] Some noted that the video alludes to the fact that Agnes might not be as good at Minecraft as she thinks she is. The video has roughly 20,000 views and her channel has roughly 2,800 subscribers as of September 2021.

Epic Gamer Grandma's most viewed videos on TikTok were uploaded in May and August 2021. In her most viewed video,^[7] which was posted on August 10th, 2021, Epic Gamer Grandma Duets with a grotesque video of white liquid shooting out of a clogged pipe. She stumbles over her words while the liquid spews out. The TikTok (shown below, right) received roughly 17 million views and 3 million likes over the course of one week. As of September 2021, @epicgamergrandma has roughly 895,000 followers on TikTok.^[8]
