Origin

Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun. Lyrical content drawn from World War I, World War II and other historical conflicts is prevalent and lyrics often recite stories of heroic deeds by men and armies.

due to the extreme and invigorating themes in Sabatons music many fan made video edits have been made with either Historically, Fictional, or Cinematic war video clips, Video Game trailer clips or other videos for comic effect with fitting Sabaton Music these include Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, Apocalypse now, We Were Soldiers Spongebob Squarepants and many more. More conventional Image memes have also been made as well as Webms. The oldest fan made video edit is from 2008 using footage from All Quiet on the western front film from 1979.

one of the more specific Sabaton Memes/video edits is 'Then the Winged Hussars Arrived' where a video is initiallysilent or dubbed over with a taking a sad or slow song then dubbed over with the chorus of 'Winged Hussars' as something bursts into shot or extreme happens often to comic effect. this can also come in the form of a static 2 panel image meme. Another variant of this is by simply plastering "Then the Winged Hussars arrived" (either in caps or as presented) in comments of often sad or slow songs on YouTube.

Through the Gates of Hell

this is the second most prevalent Sabaton memes/video edits again the video will have the chorus of 'Primo Victoria' play as something bursts onto the screen or something dramatic happens. these Video Edits occasionally use the same footage as the Winged Hussars Video edits.
