ABOUT
Pluto-chan is an anime-style anthropomorphic representation of the planet Pluto. She is depicted as a Loli girl with hair dyed in the colors pale-ish brown, resembling a photograph of the planet taken from space. Online, image macros featuring the character often contain jokes using the popular anime trope of characters being insecure about their existance as Pluto is excluded from the Solar System in August 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
ORIGIN
On December 22, 2017, the artist of Pluto-chan @Alienitynera2 saw the expanding popularity of Earth-chan on 9gag. She decided to join the fun with the idea of Pluto-chan; The tiniest planet which was kicked out by the solar system (shown below).
She designed her to be this pessimistic loli as Pluto is the tiniest forgotten Planet (or not).
She didn't expect her Pluto-chan will be loved by those who saw the memes on 9gag.
SPREAD
Since December 22, 2017, the memes are spread around 9gag. @Alienitynera2 drew several more Pluto-chan memes before realizing that her art is now spreading all over the world. As the artist didn't expect it to wildspread like a fire, she didn't put her watermark and she regretted it.
The picture above is the most shared pictures on 9gag and instagram, and the most retweeted on @Trinimmortal twitter account.
DESIGN
Pluto-chan is an innocent loli.
She is this Planet-wanna-be girl who envies her friends/colleagues/sisters which are the other planets.
She is an energetic kid who likes to play with her floating Pluto ball (Link).
"Other pluto designs are cold-looking lolis. Why does your Pluto look so bubbly?"
The reason is that Pluto is hiding her Coldness as she thought that humans will love her just like the other planets if she is happy and fun just like the other planets (picture below).
