About
Quarantine Day X, also known as Day X of Quarantine, refers to a series of reaction images referencing people’s behavior or actions during the 2019-2020 coronavirus pandemic. Typically the theme of these memes revolves around the weird exploits of individuals while they are bored and locked inside their homes or the evolution of their appearance/mental state, including a caption such as “Quarantine Day X:” and a reaction below. The series was seen on a majority of social media platforms in March 2020.
Origin
As the virus began spreading around the world in early March 2020, users from a range of sites and platforms began posting examples of their take on “Quarantine Day X” activities by showcasing strange behavior. One such example was posted by Twitter[1] user iamTannenbaum on March 14th, 2020, depicting day 1 vs. day 2 of quarantine. The tweet (seen below) received over 6,400 likes and 778 retweets.

Spread
The theme continued to spread in the following days and weeks as users from other websites joined in. On March 19th, 2020, Twitter[2] user tweeterpaul_ posted another variant depicting someone removing all the seeds from a strawberry with tweezers. The upload (shown below) received over 5,500 likes and 823 retweets.

On March 19th, 2020, Twitter[3] user James Holzhauer uploaded a photo of two Lego heads attached to poles alongside the caption, “Quarantine day 7: we start warning the other lego minis to stay out of our village.” This tweet (seen below) was liked over 2,000 times and retweeted 72 times.

Redditor[4] tsiikiiko posted another version on March 20th, 2020, to the r/BlackPeopleTwitter sub featuring a photo series of someone surgically removing the insides of an orange and treating them like babies. The post (shown below) received over 15,200 upvotes and 115 comments.
Another example was posted to the r/memes sub by Redditor[5] _NotSlimShady on March 21st, 2020, depicting a man pretending to be Will Smith from I Am Legend during his quarantine. The post (seen below) was upvoted nearly 53,000 times, commented on 655 times and also gifted a Reddit award.
On Facebook,[6] the meme page 475K uploaded a collection of images referencing the theme on March 28th, 2020, showing several people behaving in weird ways during various days of their quarantine. The collection (seen below) received over 21,000 likes, 145,000 shares and 5,700 comments.
Redditor[7] Cheeto49 posted another version to the r/dankmemes sub on March 28th, 2020. The meme (shown below) received over 21,600 upvotes and 109 comments.
