Self Potato is a phrase derived from an episode of "Wheel of Fortune" generally used to refer to a mistake one made.
Origin
On December 29, 2009, a contestant by the name of Lolita McAuley appeared on "Wheel of Fortune". During the first round, McAuley tried to answer the puzzle with "Self Potato".
Spread
The video spread quickly through blogs and gained a lot of media attention. McAuley was interviewed by The New York Times shortly after the video hit the internet.
In Janurary, 2010, the blog Self Potato was founded. It is heavily user-generated and shares humorous mistakes and snafus on their site.
