There was a sadness I felt standing behind this woman in line at McDonald's last week I watched as she took her small drink and cheeseburger to a nearby booth and sat down Alone I was in a hurry as I had a client meeting but I did something I've never done before I asked her if she'd like some company She replied "Why yes I'd love that" We spoke for 45 minutes about everything - Her husband who she lost last year - Her kids who hardly visit - Her company which had been struggling recently The tears in her eyes reflected the deep loneliness she felt She reminded me of my Grandma... "I think I can help you...." We signed her up for our 12 month retainer and we're going to be working on getting her company back to where it needs to be I stopped at McDonald's for a £5.99 lunch and left with a client worth £100k Always be ready

Reality is the hiring manager prioritized giving someone new to the industry a chance. They also offered market value for pay and did not try to low ball the person because they had no experience. Not every decision by a hiring manager purely about gender, skill, or money. Sometimes it is about giving opportunity.

I'm lucky enough to have an amazing team full of experts who are keeping the agency running (and thriving!) and I couldn't be taking (or trying to take) vacation without them. I appreciate each and every one of them. Even when they yell at me to get off Slack Anyway, I'll try *not* to be working for the next 10 days, so see y'all when I'm back! (And seriously, tips on letting go? Help!)

I knew one of our Board Members Conrad Anker would be climbing in the Khumbu region of Nepal near Mt Everest, and time zones would be challenging. Here's Conrad dialing into our meeting at 2am local time. He found internet but not heat in -17C temperatures, so just bundled up in his The North Face mountaineering gear for a three-hour discussion. We noticed part way through the Zoom that his water bottle had frozen solid. This is the level of commitment I see from our POW team every day on climate action. Athletic excellence is the perfect mindset and metaphor for this challenge. Like Conrad, we are showing up in all conditions for the climb ahead. 원
