About

Akiba`s Trip (Japanese アキバズトリップ ) is a Japanese video game franchise by developer Acquire. The franchise consists of four games, two of which are upcoming, and an anime television series adaptation by Gonzo that started airing in January 2017.

Akiba's Trip

The original Akiba's Trip game was released on PlayStation Portable in Japan by Acquire on May 19, 2011. [1]

The game takes place in the the Japanese geek paradise Akihabara, and tasks players with battling vampire-like creatures called "Kageyashi" by stripping them down to their underwear, thus exposing them to sunlight, their fatal weakness. In addition to the main plot, they can also engage in activities typical of the district, such as purchasing cosplay and visiting maid cafes.

Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed

It is a 2013 adventure video game for the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows by Acquire. It is the sequel to Akiba's Trip on the PlayStation Portable.
[2]
Set in Akihabara, the shopping area has been invaded by creatures known as "Synthisters" who prey on the patrons of Akihabara, feasting on their social energy and will to live. These enemies can only be stopped by direct exposure to sunlight, meaning that the player is required to defeat these synthisters by violently stripping off their clothes and exposing them to sunlight. The storyline revolves around a conspiracy behind the Magaimono organization that the player explores. Within the game, there will be over 130 real life Akihabara shops that the player is able to visit.

Akiba's Beat

A third entry in the Akiba series, Akiba beat is an upcoming action role-playing video game for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 video game consoles. [3]

The game takes place in Akihabara and stars protagonist and NEET Asahi Tachibana, living a regular life after deciding to drop out of college. Transfer student, Saki Hoshino, recently moved to the area and runs into Asahi. The game involves the party getting stuck in a world of delusions, trapped in a repeating day long cycle on a Sunday. The party also keeps coming across a strange, unidentifiable man in a pink sash, that always seems to be around when unexplainable incidents occur.

Akiba's Trip: The Animation

Akiba's Trip: The Animation is a 2017 anime series based on the video game of the same name. It began airing in Japan in January 4, 2017. FUNimation Entertainment licensed the series for an English release and began airing it on their streaming service 30 minutes after it aired in Japan.

Otaku siblings Tamotsu and Niwaka Denkigai are shopping in Akihabara when it is overrun by vampiric cosplaying monsters! These creatures, known as "Bugged Ones," can possess anyone they bite and soon they begin causing mayhem across the city. As Tamotsu finds himself at the mercy of one of these creatures, he is rescued by the mysterious baseball bat-wielding Matome Mayonaka. Together, they fight through several more encounters with the Bugged Ones, but before long, Tamotsu is fatally wounded protecting Matome. With no other choice, she revives him as a high level Bugged One--just like her!

Tamotsu and Matome, along with excitable otaku cosplayer Arisa Ahokainen, make up the group "The Electric Mayonnaise" and they begin dispatching the Bugged Ones in the only way they know how: by ripping off their clothes and exposing them to sunlight! [4]

The series premiered on January 4, 2017, and is being broadcast on AT-X, Tokyo MX and BS Fuji. Crunchyroll is streaming the series while Funimation is streaming an English dub. It is the first Funimation simuldub with episodes released the day of the original Japanese broadcast.[5]
