Why Was The 'H3H3Productions' Twitch Channel Banned? The Hasan Piker 'Content Nuke' Drama Explained

Leftist Twitch streamer Hasan Piker is being accused of benefiting from favoritism after the h3h3productions Twitch channel was suspended for playing Piker's content.
The suspension comes amid a massive feud between h3h3productions' Ethan Klein and Piker, who were once co-hosts of the podcast Leftovers. After Klein started looping his takedown video of Piker on Twitch, the channel was suspended and then mysteriously reinstated within the last day.
So why exactly was the H3 Twitch channel suspended, why was it brought back and how is everyone responding to the situation? Here's what we know.
Why Was The 'H3H3Productions' Twitch Channel Banned?
At the end of January 2025, Ethan Klein released his "content nuke" video on streamer Hasan Piker, his former co-host on the political podcast Leftovers.
The video makes a lot of criticisms about Piker, including that he shows terrorist propaganda on his stream relating to the Hamas-Israel conflict, praises terrorist groups like the Houthis, radicalizes his fans down a communist pipeline and more.
The 100-minute video also hypothesizes that Piker benefits from favoritism from Twitch moderators, staff and the company's CEO, Dan Clancy, which caused considerable drama for the platform last year.
In the video, Klein shows multiple instances of clips that should have allegedly gotten Piker banned or suspended but did not. It also criticizes Clancy, showing evidence of him allegedly being antisemitic and favoring Piker.
Yesterday, Klein announced on the H3 Podcast that he would begin streaming a 24/7 loop of the content nuke on their inactive Twitch channel. A few hours after they started the stream, the account was hit with a 30-day suspension for "encouraging or glorifying extreme violence."
Klein reacted to the suspension with shock because the only footage that possibly encouraged or glorified extreme violence in the video was from Piker while he was streaming on Twitch, but Piker was never punished for the footage shown in the numerous clips.
Following the incident, Klein tried to appeal the ban, but the request was denied. Then, shortly after, the suspension was lifted, Twitch support claimed it was a mistake.

How Is Social Media Reacting To The H3H3Productions Channel's Ban?
News of the suspension quickly traveled on social media, landing on the /r/LiveStreamFail subreddit minutes after it happened to over 10,000 upvotes in less than 24 hours.
Many Redditors there took Ethan Klein's side in the issue, seeing the suspension as an example of Twitch's poor, oft-criticized moderation practices. They also saw it as further evidence of the alleged favoritism towards Piker for many of the same reasons evidenced in the content nuke.
Incidentally, the h3h3productions channel was banned a day after Piker was reinstated on Twitch for a 24-hour ban for saying, “If you cared about Medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott."
Piker's defenders have taken the opportunity to criticize Klein, who has been getting a massive amount of criticism lately for criticizing Piker and showing sympathy for both Palestine and Israel and a desire for peace and a two-state solution.

The suspension has become such a big story online that it's even reached X / Twitter owner Elon Musk, who commented on some Twitter posts sharing clips of Klein's reaction to the ban to show his support for getting Twitch to crack down on its contentious moderation practices.
This has inspired some of Piker's fans to use the Elon Musk like against Klein, who has been a staunch Musk hater for years.
For example, Twitter user @noah_x_hh recently posted, "Cannot wait to see the cognitive dissonance here when they are confronted with the fact that one of the most powerful evil people in the world align with them," to over 2,100 likes in a day.
At the time of publishing, Hasan Piker has not commented on the situation.
