Dragon's Dogma 2 is a 3rd-person, single-player action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. The game is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 22nd, 2024. The game's character creator drew significant buzz online in March 2024, as people used the system to create memorable characters from other games and works of art like TV shows and movies.
History
In Dragon's Dogma 2, the player takes on the role of a character called the "Arisen",[1] a hero marked by a dragon who they must defeat, all while exploring the world they live in, taking on quests, and fighting monsters, in the process being caught up in a geopolitical conflict between two kingdoms.
The game is a sequel to 2012's Dragon's Dogmaand features many similar features, now utilizing "RE ENGINE and the latest hardware to create a classic fantasy world meticulously woven with an overwhelming sense of reality, physics calculations, and AI."[2] Developed and published by Capcom, the game's first trailer[3] was released on May 24th, 2023, amassing more than 340,000 views and 16,000 likes in almost a year.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is expected to be released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 22nd, 2024.
Online Presence
The game steadily developed an online presence thanks to some players who downloaded the demo version and started to share their creativity using Dragon's Dogma 2 character creator. For example, on March 10th, 2024, X[4] user @LookAtMyMeat1 posted a collage featuring some of the characters created using the game's feature, which includes Breaking Bad's "Walter White," The Witcher's "Geralt" and even the Handsome Squidward meme from SpongeBob SquarePants. The post (shown below), amassed over 52,000 likes and 6,400 retweets in a day.
On March 8th, 2024, X[5] user @sm00thtown posted two screenshots of Dragon's Dogma 2 character creator, saying someone is making Willem Dafoe (shown below, left), which amassed more than 17,000 likes and 1,800 retweets in four days. On March 9th, 2024, X[6] user @TKSav__ posted a version of Uncle Ruckus from the animation The Boondocks, which garnered over 5,600 likes and 582 retweets in three days.
