Overview

Fundamental Paper Education is an animated web series by YouTuber and animator Kaaatie that debuted in March 2024. The first episode of the series is a fan music video for The Living Tombstone's Baldi's Basics song "Basics in Behavior" depicting several school students getting killed by and attempting to survive against killer teachers, including one named Miss Circle, who slaughters and eats students that perform poorly in her class. The series' premiere episode went viral, inspiring fan art and content across social media depicting its characters.

History

Basics In Behavior

On March 1st, 2024, YouTuber^[1] and animator Kaaatie posted a fan music video for The Living Tombstone's song "Basics in Behavior,"^[2] garnering over 2,1 million views in three weeks (shown below). The video, animated in a paper style, depicts a group of students who are taught by the teacher Miss Circle, a tall teacher with sharp features and a compass for an arm. One student, Abbie, gets an "F" on her paper, resulting in Mmiss Circle chasing, killing and eating her. The animation also depicts several other homicidal teachers, including the language teacher Miss Thavel and science teacher Miss Bloomie. The main students shown in the animation are Claire, Engel, Oliver and Zip.

Online Presence

The first episode of the series inspired fan art and edits across social media, becoming notably popular on sites like X, YouTube and TikTok. For example, on March 14th and 15th, 2024, YouTubers^[3][4] Pikuni and Starbook posted videos related to the series, garnering over 37,000 and 25,000 views respectively in a week (shown below, left and right).

That day, X^[5] user @COZMICSLAZH posted a piece of artwork based on the series, garnering over 600 likes in six days (shown below). On March 17th, the /r/fundamentalpaper^[6] subreddit was started. That same day, X^[9] user @AnimationPukan posted a piece of artwork depicting the art teacher Sasha, garnering over 670 likes in the same span of time (shown below, right).

On March 19th, TikToker^[7] @jujuju.zyxx posted an edit featuring characters from the series, garnering over 133,000 views in two days (shown below, left). On March 20th, TikToker^[8] @raven.z.denz posted a video hypothesizing on what each teacher's voice might sound like, garnering over 189,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

Miss Circle

Miss Circle is one of the primary antagonists of Fundamental Paper Education. Depicted as a teacher with a compass for an arm, she is shown in the premiere episode as a homicidal character who kills and eats students who perform poorly in her class. Following the release of the premiere episode, Miss Circle became a popular subject of fan content.
