About

Ib (イヴ Ivu) is an indie horror adventure game developed in RPG Maker 2000 by Japanese developer kouri, the player takes control of Ib, the titular protagonist where she explores and escape a surreal art gallery while solving puzzles and avoiding traps and enemies. The protagonist finds Garry and Mary along the way to make company, with Garry being another playable character other than Ib. The game has been rereleased to modern platforms using a different engine "RPG Maker MV" and available on PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch and Windows (Steam).

History

The game has been released on February 2012 as a free-to-play title, with it's final version released on June 2014, it was the developer's first experience at making a game.

Due to it's popularity outside Japan, a remake has been announced on November 2019 on newer platforms, using a different hardware. The remake features new puzzles for players to solve throughout the remake.

Impact

Shortly after the unofficial English translation released, many Let's Plays have been recorded and uploaded on Youtube, gaining a significant amount of popularity outside Japan, and it is considered a cult classic by critics.
