One important thing to note is that a lot of the most insufferable/doomer-ish/"fuck the world and the person playing this game in particular" parts of the game seem to have been the result of the sudden and unexpected passing of the creator's mother midway through development leading to something of a mental breakdown. I imagine that them being in a significantly better place mentally is going to be a boon for this.
