Three Girls Posing In Google Street View refers to a photograph of three girls captured by Google Maps street view that grew popular on Twitter / X as a redraw reference for artists to draw fan art of characters from various series.

Origin

On May 24th, 2024, Twitter / X^[1] user @rasaa2020 posted a quote retweet on a post by @KazuhasiTomo, uploading a photo of three girls posing while the Google street view car passed by them. The caption roughly translates to "Found on street view, probably the beginning of new school leaders." The post received 7,500 reposts and 87,400 likes in two days (shown below).

Spread

Days later, the photo became popular redraw material for drawing fan art. For example, on May 27th, 2024, Twitter / X^[2] user @5555sssr uploaded Monogatari Series fan art based on the photo. The post received more than 6,100 reposts and 44,600 likes in one day (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter / X^[3] user @tabakko uploaded fan art of Hololive VTuber talents such as Nekomata Okayu, Inugami Korone, Shirakami Fubuki, and Ookami Mio. The post received more than 8,200 reposts and 58,800 likes in one day (shown below, right).

On May 27th, 2024, Twitter / X^[4] user @machuuu68 uploaded Bocchi The Rock! fan art based on the photo that received more than 6,900 reposts and 47,300 likes in one day (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter / X^[5] user @tentenchan2525 uploaded Frieren: Beyond Journey's End fan art that received more than 9,800 reposts and 83,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).
