On August 9th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @haykikiki started posting "versus" slideshow videos where they pit numerous animals against each other. The TikToker posted numerous videos like this over the following days, almost always including the kodiak bear as one of the options, inspiring commenters to write variations of the phrase "y'all don't know about the kodiak bear" to reference how perceivably mighty the kodiak bear is by the TikToker. On August 15th, 2023, the TikToker^[2] posted a slideshow captioned, "Dont know about Kodiak," referencing the meme, garnering over 6 million views in six days. On August 16th, TikToker^[3] @jotaro_kujo293 posted a recording of the video, showcasing the comments, garnering over 700,000 views in five days (shown below).
