On June 8th, 2020, Twitter^[1] user @byBeli_02 made a joke about the intensity of Animal Crossing gameplay, comparing it with gardening. The post (shown below) received over 1,500 retweets and 7,100 likes in 10 months. This is the earliest known example referencing the catchphrase and trend.

Spread

On June 14th, 2020, iFunny^[2] user Tkamario posted a screenshot of @byBeli_02's tweet, with the post gaining over 54,900 smiles in 10 months.

On August 3rd, 2020, Twitter^[3] user @Turtldude23 posted a similar meme about Splatoon with the tweet gaining over 8,100 retweets and 45,900 likes. In the following days, screenshots of the tweet were widely circulated online, including several viral reposts on Instagram.^[4][5]

In early August 2020, the format saw active use on Twitter. For example, on August 4th, 2020, Twitter^[6] user @ct1YoFP made a meme about Fire Emblem series, with the tweet gaining over 3,100 retweets and 14,200 likes (shown below, left).
