Ticket requests for ApeFest 2022, which will take place in New York City from June 20th to the 23rd, opened Wednesday morning, leading to a flurry of Bored Ape memes online, some celebrating the upcoming event and some mocking it.

The event, which will be a four-day festival at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan, is open only to owners of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs and their plus-ones. It is part of how Yuga Labs promotes the line of NFTs and membership in the “Yacht Club,” which a Bored Ape buys you entrance into. The line-up of artists performing at the festival has yet to be announced, but the website of the event does indicate that food at the venue will be free for Ape holders and alcohol will also be served.

Many on social media platforms like Twitter mocked the ApeFest, anticipating that the event would be a “sausage fest” full of NFT dudes and crypto boys.

Tickets for the event are purportedly difficult to come by, as you must own an Ape, which generally costs at least six figures to buy, and there's also a limited supply of tickets. The FAQ section of the ApeFest site states that even among owners of apes “we can’t guarantee everyone will get a ticket.”

Another one of the FAQs asks, “Can I be a jerk?,” to which the answer is a resolute “Please don’t.”

Despite the requirements for entry, many joked about trying to sneak into ApeFest and how it might be done.

The ApeFest ticket announcement comes days after another hack of the Bored Ape Discord, in which around $360,000 worth of Apes were reportedly lost. Hacking has been an increasingly prevalent problem in the NFT community, with Ape owners like Seth Green losing their assets this year.
