As massive hacks and thefts in the Bored Ape Yacht Club community have become increasingly common, sometimes humorously so, developers Yuga Labs have told followers that they will "never contact them first."

"Anybody contacting you first is not us. We will NOT reach out to anyone over email first, and we will NEVER ask for your seed phrase," they tweeted in April.

But now, they seem to have failed to take their own advice. Over the weekend, a Bored Ape community manager was hacked, then their account posted a phishing scam that saw the hackers make off with $360,000 worth of the crypto Ethereum.

Community manager Boris Vagner appeared to be the victim of the scammers' hack, as they used his account to "promote" an exclusive getaway to BAYC holders.

The scam marks the third time in just over two months that scammers have been able to infiltrate and attack the Yuga Labs community and run away with significant chunks of ETH. On the bright(ish) side for Web3 enthusiasts, the scammers' $360,000 haul was significantly less than the $2.9 million haul scammers pulled the last time they infiltrated Yuga in April.

Yet again, crypto doubters took this opportunity to point, meme and laugh at the misfortunes of the ape "hodlers," who hodl their apes no more.
