President Trump's 11-year-old son, Barron, who has been praised by his father for being an expert of "the cyber," has found himself in the limelight of internet memedom.
Over the last two weeks, social media posts speculating that Barron Trump memes were "on the rise" hit the front page of the ever-booming /r/MemeEconomy subreddit, thanks to the circulation of captioned pictures featuring America's First Son wearing a light blue J. Crew t-shirt with "The Expert" printed on the front.
Originally taken on June 11th during his first homecoming to the White House for summer break, the photographs of Barron sporting the t-shirt, and at one point seen with a fidget spinner in his hand (surprise, surprise), quickly inspired a variety of image macros on the web, with many using the tagline of the shirt as a punchline.
The following day, an article published on the website of former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin erroneously stated the shirt had "sold out within hours," a claim that was subsequently debunked by a J. Crew spokesperson in a statement released via Business Insider. However, it didn't take long for knockoff versions of the t-shirt to appear on Amazon, where several vendors tried to piggyback on Barron Trump's newfound fame as "The Expert" of many things, and among them, "the cyber."
