Crazy Frog Is Getting Death Threats Over NFT Release, Rumors Spread That Artist's Team Is Being Forced

After coming back with the first new song in 12 years, the most annoying frog in the biz, Crazy Frog, has found itself the center of an NFT controversy. Eager to hop onto the NFT train, the amphibian artist announced Crazy Frog NFTs, but not everybody believes that Crazy Frog's team is on the same page about selling tokens.

The December 9th release of Crazy Frog's single “Tricky” came as a surprise to many. What didn't come as a surprise was the announcement that Crazy Frog NFTs would soon be made available for purchase.

Soon, users on Twitter were reporting that not everybody on the Crazy Frog team was on the same page, with a user sharing a screenshot from the official Discord in which an administrator indirectly referred to NFTs as a scam.

On December 10th, Crazy Frog's Twitter account, which called out several scam accounts trying to profit off the most annoying CGI artist in the past, rolled out a post about the future release, writing that the release of official NFTs "was the only way we can truly stop [the scammers] for good."

This, however, attracted even more anti-NFT sentiment, to which Crazy Frog reacted by doubling down.

This did little to stop the flood of tweets criticizing the creator — moreover, the rumors that there was discord among Crazy Frog's social media team seemed to have gained more momentum, with more evidence surfacing.

On Monday, Crazy Frog's Twitter account reported that they have been getting death threats since the scandal broke out. In a series of tweets, the Crazy Frog team provided assurances that nobody was pressuring anyone to do something (since the creator and producer of the project was the same person) and that social media guys had their own opinions and were allowed to voice them.

Everyone has a say in the brand matters, however the higher-ups have still decided to go forward with the project. Not all of us agree and we may sometimes express disapproval promoting it. We are allowed to do so and we have been only speaking from our own personal judgment.

Whether Crazy Frog NFTs will be a success or a flop, the project is planning to release more music in the future so people can also get annoyed the old-fashioned way.
