In all the hubbub surrounding Andrew Yang's meme-centric presidential campaign, the internet seemed to miss an actual, flesh-and-blood meme on the ticket.

Way back in February 2019, Peter Accetturo, better known as Voiceoverpete, announced a presidential run, in a pair of cargo shorts and cribbing some lines of Bill Whitemore's iconic Independence Day speech. The Fiverr star became a meme sensation one year ago with a series of bizarre videos calling on Fortnite gamers to help John Wick.

"We are fighting for our right to live, to exist, and should we win the day," Accetturo said in his campaign video. "Presidents Day will no longer be known as a national American holiday, but the day the world declared in one voice, we will not go quietly into the night, we will not vanquish without a fight."

Accetturo's speech touches on vague initiatives, such as rising to the occasion and vanquishing evil, before pivoting to a position against tech companies like Fiverr and Facebook for mining data like "toilet paper."

"Stop the 'Zucc Suck,'" Accetturo said before a crowd of dozens.

The presidential campaign is an offshoot of his ongoing fight against various social media and video streaming sites he's waged in the wake of his Fiverr ban in late 2018.

Accetturo is one of the hundreds that have filed a "statement of candidacy" with the Federal Election Commission. Other candidates include Florida Democrat J.J. Walcutt, Texas Republican Christopher Brainard and "Cocaine." Yes, the drug cocaine has filed a statement.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Pete came across a little more seriously than in his campaign video, stating his desire to do away with political gridlock of the present and fighting social media platforms that he believes treat creators unfairly.

"I would like to see a party of common sense," he said.

Whether Voiceoverpete's campaign is a serious one is anyone's guess, but it seems unlikely that he'll be able to beat cocaine, even if the Gamers Rise Up in the way Pete hopes. Sorry, Pete, people really like cocaine.
