The video game Genshin Impact, not even a month removed from the Anniversary Rewards backlash finds itself in hot water again, this time for a promotional stunt featuring a longtime character of the game named "Ella Musk."

Ella Musk, which has been in the game since launch, was recently featured with a verified Twitter account and the promise that reaching certain follower milestones would unlock cool rewards. The ultimate reward, for having 5 million followers, was that Elon Musk was going to be invited to MiHoYo's headquarters to play the game. Many fans were confused by this promotional move and quickly rallied to push back against it on Twitter earlier today, seeing no value in having Musk interact with the game.

The tweet about the event was quickly deleted, but not before Elon himself also made a tweet about it, as more people began to take notice. While some were confused about why it was trending, explanations and analysis of the event itself were quickly divulged to everyone, who then largely expressed online that it was a "silly idea."
