Well-known influencer and YouTuber Hank Green has shared that he has cancer in videos posted to YouTube and TikTok earlier today.

Along with his brother, novelist John Green, Hank Green runs the Vlogbrothers channel on YouTube on which the two exchange updates about their lives in front of over 3.5 million subscribers.

Green clarifies in the announcement video that his prognosis is "good," saying that as far as cancers go, Hodgkin's lymphoma is a more treatable variety.

He noted that he plans to slow down his content creation and take some breaks in order to focus on treating his illness, however, Hank shared that he wants to continue making some content and carrying on with some obligations, for his own mental health.

He also shared the news on TikTok, where he usually answers science-related questions for his over 7.5 million followers.

Many fans were upset at the news and expressed that on social media. Hank Green asked that his fans not mob him with too much advice, but did request recommendations of movies, books and TV shows that were not heavy and "could not make anyone cry."
