Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey returned to YouTube on Christmas Eve, resurrecting the role of Frank Underwood in an apparent sequel to last year's "Let Me Be Frank" video, which dropped amid allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against Spacey.
In his latest fireside message, Spacey, adopting that southern droll of his House of Cards character Frank Underwood, urged viewers to cryptically "kill them with kindness."
"The next time someone does something you don’t like, you can go on the attack," says Spacey. "But you can also hold your fire and do the unexpected. You can kill them with kindness."
In October 2017, actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexual assault when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26. The allegations, as well as subsequent ones, seemingly, drove Spacey from public life. In November 2017, Spacey announced that he would "seek evaluation and treatment."
This is the first video by Spacey since he re-emerged from controversy last Christmas Eve. His first video as the unofficial version of Frank Underwood garnered more than 11 million views in the past year.
While many have expressed confusion over the video, Vox writer Aja Romano tweeted, "Kevin Spacey is not a joke. I keep saying this because it keeps needing to be said. Please actually READ the stories of the people he assaulted."
Guys, I really, really, really don't want us to turn him into a joke. Kevin Spacey is not a joke. I keep saying this because it keeps needing to be said. Please actually READ the stories of the people he assaulted. They are terrifying. https://t.co/vrqDNfaSqI
