'Billionaire' Kylie Jenner Is Once Again Asking For You To Donate To Her Friends GoFundMe

GoFundMe is one of America's leading providers of money for healthcare. In 2019, Time reported that one-third of the site's donations go to medical costs, raising more than $650 million in contributions. For millions of Americans, healthcare is an expensive and sometimes impossible hurdle to overcome to get the care they need.
One family that probably doesn't need to rely on donations from other people for their medical needs is the Kardashian-Jenners. Known for flaunting their wealth on their TV show and i"sland getaways during a global pandemic":/memes/after-2-weeks-and-multiple-health-screens/, the family is one associated with absurd wealth based on their reported $2 billion net worth.
Knowledge of their absurd bank accounts is well-known in the culture. Most of their brand is predicated on their obscene gobs of cash. This makes it even more confusing as to why Kylie Jenner, who in 2019 was reportedly worth more than a billion dollars (though, that number decreased to $700 million in 2020), is promoting a friend's GoFundMe on Instagram.
Last week, Jenner posted about her friend makeup artist Samuel Rauda, who was injured in a car accident. She wrote, "May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel. Everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his family's GoFundMe."

While obviously there's nothing wrong with donating to your friend's fundraiser, many online are wondering why Jenner, who, again, is worth $700 million, doesn't just pay for it. The 23-year-old donated $5,000, but she made $590 million last year, making her the highest-paid celebrity of the year. Many believe that she could, you know, just take care of this hospital stay, or at the very least, not ask her fans and followers to foot the bill.
Hey @KylieJenner! Why don’t you “go fund” your friends financial needs rather than asking your fans to do it. You know, your fans that are anxiously waiting for their $1,400 check to drop so they can by food and pay bills. 🙄 #ToneDeaf https://t.co/wTHCe18HeW

wait so kylie jenner’s make up artist got into a car accident and needed $60k for emergency brain surgery and she asked her fans to donate???? and then only donated $5,000 when she’s a literal billionaire? the wrong people have money.

So Kylie Jenner who apparently earns over $450k A DAY and is a billionaire shared the 60k gofundme of her friend who got in an accident for us poor people to donate to? Celebrities are a different breed.

Kylie Jenner, who makes $19K/hr asking for $$$ from her fans to help her make up artist pay for a $60,000 surgery, is an excellent example of why we need universal healthcare. Even billionaire employers like Kylie and Walmart aren’t willing to pay for their employees' healthcare.

Social media can be a tricky thing. For people not making more than $450,000 a day, the idea that they should be cutting into their much lower-sum paychecks isn't sitting right with people. Things got even uglier when they started coming for Jenner's expensive handbags, wondering if she values the bags more than her friend.

But what do you expect her to do? Kylie Jenner is just a regular multi-millionaire in her early 20s. She can't be responsible for all of her friends' medical needs. Plus, she's got bigger problems, like how she was dropped from Forbes' list of youngest billionaires last year. Poor thing :(
