As we have all lived several lifetimes during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may seem like the great Tiger King craze happened decades, even centuries ago, when in fact, Netflix's quarantine smash hit dropped only in March of last year. It was the first mass distraction of the pandemic era, and while its popularity has certainly waned since its heyday, it's understandable that Netflix would want to try to recapture the Tiger King magic. Today, they took their first step by announcing Tiger King season 2.

The above tweet is all the news Netflix has given—at the moment, there's no trailer or release date for the docuseries' second season, just a promise that there will be "just as much mayhem and madness as Season 1," which frankly seems impossible given that Season 1 ended with Joe Exotic in federal prison, where he still remains, but one imagines there's plenty of unseen footage from Season 1 which could flesh out the Joe Exotic saga.

Reactions to the announcement were mixed, as some people felt that there couldn't possibly be enough material to make a second season of Tiger King, while others felt it was a relic of the pandemic era best left in the past.

Tiger King Season 2 is supposed to drop sometime in 2022 alongside other Netflix true-crime docuseries The Tinder Swindler, Bad Vegan, The Puppet Master: Hunting The Ultimate Con-man and Trust No One: The Hunt For The Crypto King.
