PBR Wakes Up, Tweets Unprintable Message To Its Followers
In 2013, Denny's hired Amber Gordon, giving her free reign to post memes on the breakfast chain's Tumblr account. Today, after several years and multiple branded social media accounts trying their hand at memeing with the teens, the Pabst Blue Ribbon Twitter account told its followers to eat ass.
The tweet was only on the site for a short period of time before it was deleted, but the intended effect was achieved: For the next few hours, Pabst Blue Ribbon trended on Twitter.

Pabst Blue Ribbon has an aggressive, new social media campaign for the new year. Or a disgruntled employee who still has their password. pic.twitter.com/6kEu4HIlCT

Me: Social Media Managers can't just Tweet whatever they want from brand accounts! There are LAYERS of approvals that go into every post.

Recently, the PBR Twitter account has gotten some pushback for trying to encourage a "Wet January," an alternative to the traditional "Dry January," a month of sobriety some alcohol enjoyers attempt every year. The account has spent the past few days spatting with critics of the campaign who claim it sends a poor message. It is unclear if PBR's "Eat Ass" tweet was a snipe at those critics.

Overall, it seems Twitter users were enthused by this bold new step in corporate s***posting, though there were some users who were exhausted at yet another corporation trending for memeing.

Top contender for the tweet of 2022 and we’re only three days in. Bravo, team. pic.twitter.com/14SWVUSo2p

I don't blame the Pabst Blue Ribbon Twitter account. It used to be a brand could win the freaking internet for a month if they quote tweeted Demi Lovato with a " ;) " Now they have to post clips from Salò just to trend for the day 😑

PBR has since gone back to more "traditional" tweets.
