Toby Keith, one of the biggest Country stars of 1990s and 2000s, died of stomach cancer on Monday at the age of 62. Following the singer's death, both fans and critics took to social media to post memes and discuss his legacy.

Keith's most famous songs include the drinking anthem "Red Solo Cup" and "I Should've Been A Cowboy." He was a part of many childhoods lived throughout the United States.

On Twitter / X, posters debated his most controversial song, 2002's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," a pro-war anthem that for many is synonymous with the Wars on Terror. In the song, Keith calls for a violent response to those who do harm to the United States.

Keith was also remembered for his interactions with other stars. He played a part in the rise of Taylor Swift and feuded bitterly with The Chicks over their opposition to the war in Iraq. A post describing a purported confrontation between Keith and Kris Kristofferson also circulated online, with many on the left-leaning side of the spectrum criticizing Keith's politics.

Others, as always, had a more absurdist take on the Keith's passing.
