Every day on Twitter, there is a Main Character who draws the majority of the site's ire for a very bad tweet. While the main character isn't always noteworthy outside of the site's daily frenzy, today's is particularly special: Republican political strategist Liz Mair, who claims that she burns her son's Pokémon cards if he doesn't eat.

For clarity's sake, it's important to note this is a bit. Ten hours before her Pokémon card tweets, Mair posted, "This website is getting to be really boring. I’m starting to consider tweeting deliberately crazy and offensive stuff just to try to spice it up again."

As a troll job, Mair has crafted an arguably perfect tweet to rile up on the entire site. She's tapped into the site's keen investment in parenting, particularly bad parenting, and also conjured the image of a malnourished little boy sobbing while his mother burns his beloved Bulbasaur or whatever. Twitter users took the bait as expected. The cruelty and potential for childhood trauma stemming from the situation she described were very clear to most who encountered the tweet without context, as evidenced by Mair's staggering 2,300-40 quote-tweet-to-retweet ratio.

After the expected pile-on to her tweets, Mair confirmed that she was trolling, responding to a user who figured it out by adding, "Andy figured something out that a lot of the rest of you have not. Read people’s Twitter timelines, people…

So no, there isn't a Republican strategist out there burning her child's Pokémon cards to get him to eat a sandwich. But there is a brilliant troll.
