Game publisher Ubisoft has delisted its video announcing the creation of its Ubisoft Quartz platform, which would add NFTs to AAA games, after receiving an astounding 20:1 dislike-to-like ratio on YouTube.

The video was also posted on IGN and can still be viewed below.

According to the video, Ubisoft's NFTs will be called "Digits" and will first be available in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. The "Digits" appear to be limited-edition cosmetic items that will allow players to "complete the mission in style."

In a statement, Ubisoft said, "Digits are a new way to experience cosmetic items, combining the fun of playing with AAA quality assets and the thrill of owning NFTs that represent unique, collectible pieces of Ubisoft game worlds."

Ubisoft executive Nicolas Pouard added, "Our long-term efforts led us to understand how blockchain’s decentralized approach could genuinely make players stakeholders of our games, in a way that is also sustainable for our industry, placing back into their hands the value they generate through the time they spend, the items they buy or the content they create online."

Despite the positive spin Ubisoft is putting on Quartz, it's clear players aren't thrilled. Twitter user @bobbydigitales posted the fine print of Ubisoft Quartz, revealing troubling terms and conditions of the store, such as Ubisoft claiming no ability to cancel transactions or liability in cybersecurity threats posed by the use of cryptocurrency in their games.

In addition to Ubisoft delisting the announcement video, players on Twitter have been largely ruthless in mocking Ubisoft.

It's unclear if the intense backlash will convince Ubisoft to drop their play to get into the NFT game. For now, the Beta version of Quartz went live at 1 p.m. EST today.
