Videos of men wearing Apple Vision Pro headsets in Tesla Cybertrucks from Instagram users @supercar_ron and @thegrizz_.

Two viral videos of men wearing Apple Vision Pro headsets while driving Tesla Cybertrucks have surfaced on social media recently, each racking up millions of views. However, they are allegedly fake, garnering discourse about their "hoax" status.

The original video shows a man driving a Cybertruck on a Utah highway while wearing a newly bought Vision Pro mixed reality headset. His hands are not on the wheel and are instead seen swinging around in front of him, making it seem like he's using phantom interfaces.

The video was posted by Instagram user @supercar_ron on Saturday, quickly going viral as a Reel on the platform. Immediately after spreading to people's feeds, many users posted angry comments, prompting @supercar_ron to clarify that the video was a skit.

In his clarifying comment, @supercar_ron further stated that the headset wasn’t displaying anything but the road. Plus, the self-driving feature wasn’t activated. The comment only received about 2,100 likes, far less than what his Reel received, ultimately leading to confusion about the video's authenticity.

The hoax was inflated with more validity when it was reposted to X (Twitter) by user @blakestonks, who was later wrongfully credited for the video by major publications and social media pages like Barstool Sports.

On X is where the video gained its initial slew of reactions and memes as people likened the scene to the word "dystopia," using it as a humorous piece of foreshadowing for society's eventual downfall.

On Sunday, another video of a Cybertruck-driving, headset-wearing individual gained viral spread on social media. In it, the man's seen coming out of his vehicle while wearing a Vision Pro. He then dances for a second and seems to be scrolling on something that the viewer cannot see.

The video was posted by Instagram user @thegrizz_ who tagged the creator of the first video (@supercar_ron) in the description. In turn, the tagging alludes to the video being a skit although @thegrizz_ didn't post a clarifying comment like @supercar_ron before him.

Regardless, the second video has also been widely shared on social media, providing a potent source of rage bait for the average netizen.

As more videos of people wearing the Apple Vision Pro in public surface, maybe viewing them with a skeptical eye is wise.
