Violent Amber Heard Fanfiction On 'Archive Of Our Own' Sparks Outrage On Twitter

A Twitter user by the name chrispinerd has called out a work of "revenge" fanfiction on the fanfic site Archive Of Our Own, saying it made her feel "sick."
The story, titled "Amber Heard Gets Punished" and written by user Axelex12, published back in January 2021 to Archive Of Our Own, depicts a man violently "punishing" Heard for yelling at a screenwriter.
Yesterday, @chrispinerd brought attention to the story, tagging the website directly and mentioning two "revenge" fics about Heard on the site — particularly mentioning "Amber Heard Gets Punished" by name. In a comment under the original tweet, the user criticizes the "#JusticeForJohnnyDepp" supporters for making the movement about "humiliating Amber" rather than standing up for abuse survivors, ending her tweet with the hashtag "#IStandWithAmberHeard."
one of the comments on the first one says that they hoped amber was r*ped before she was killed in the fic, it's what she deserved, and the other fic has "amber heard is bitch" as a tag. people are straight up writing fanfiction where they fantasize about torturing amber

none of this behavior is normal, and not a single person who has participated in this deserves even an ounce of forgiveness.#IStandWithAmberHeard

The tweet has inspired a number of comments on the story criticizing the writer and asking them to delete it. Earlier today, one user wrote, "it’s summ clinically wrong with y’all. I would say seek help but clearly y’all are beyond that. find a god and pray hard." The post has also received comments from other Twitter users asking how they can report the story and show support for Heard.
Heard has been criticized and memed throughout the trial against Johnny Depp, while support for Depp has arguably been much more vocal. From Amber Heard Revenge Poop and My Dog Stepped On A Bee to the Dirty Carpet story and even TikTokers reenacting her testimony in skits, the wave of predominantly anti-Heard memes has continued to grow since the trial began last month.
