I think most people consider Steven x Lapis a weird/bad pairing because Steven is 11 and Lapis (though short and willing to make fart noises for comedy) is over 5000 years old. And also, while this bothers me very much, canon is no deterrent to shipping. The only people we really need to worry about are the ones who get upset when their ship is proven (even more so) to be impossible to happen in the show. Jasper x Lapis? Who really thinks Rebecca would let an abusive relationship seem acceptable on her show? As long as they acknowledge their ship will never sail canon water, leave them be.
