While part of me has mixed feeling about Nintendo making a free-to-play app, at least they're very transparent about it. They call it "free-to-start" as a way to indicate "yes after the start period it'll stop being free," and they do at least encourage people to NOT spend money if they can't. Plus at least they give out free plays every so often.

Nintendo being subtle there, I see.
