He is compared to Rose a lot. I think seeing Steven interact with the world around him, is a bit of a glimpse into how Rose acted. The Gems even say that Rose tried helping the corrupted Gems but failed. Or Pearl saying how much he sounds like her.

Makes me wonder if he'll ever have a bit of an identity crises. Wondering just how much of his own being is himself, or just his Mother being recreated through him.
