For me it wasnât just the Ms Bellum thing, but also how much they botched trying to do a âgender metaphorâ with a horse wanting to become a unicorn. First off I feel using a mythical creature for the metaphor sends off some real unfortunate implications, but the episode in question ends with the horse learning it was a unicorn all along, it just had its horn buried underneath itâs mane.
I wouldnât even be annoyed by this were it not for the fact one of the producers EXPLICITLY stated the episode was supposed to be a metaphor. Had she not said that I probably could have written it off as a âsilly plot,â but knowing it was supposed to have a deeper meaning and they botched it just sours my opinion.
I remember he originally gave his blessing to the show in hopes the new staff would keep up the quality, but yeah now I'm wondering if he's having second thoughts.
I admit I am curious how things would have been had McCracken stayed with CN (the reason he left was because of Stuart Snyder taking over and the whole CN Real fiasco; at the time, McCracken felt CN was losing its way and the good rep he had with the old president disappeared the moment Snyder took over [Snyder's gone by the way, he left in either 2014 or 2015], so he went to Disney because he had some colleagues there to give him a good word). Like I feel Wander Over Yonder could have done really well on CN, especially with the overarching plot season 2 has (I honestly feel Wander would have been confirmed for a third season long ago had it been on CN and got ratings comparable to shows like Steven Universe, which shares an "uneven airing schedule" with Wander).
