To elaborate on the Sidequest Part: Some (if not all) of them had some Dialogue Choices that can potentially end in Bad Endings for some of the Parties involved in said Sidequests. All of those Bad Endings got removed so that you get the best possible outcome no matter what you do.

That being said, I also want to point out that even the japanese Playerbase didn't like those aforementioned Bad Endings, so it's not entirely (if at all) a case of "PROTECT THE CHILDREN!"
