In Storyshift, Chara and Asriel are alive and are blood brothers; in this Chara let go of murderous thoughts when they were accepted into Asriel's family. However, if you go for genocide, you just screw up everything, in addition to killing everyone Chara knew and loved, you make them lost faith in humanity and let go of everything that was holding them back. In some ways, it's sadder than the original.
