Immigration is very much in the center of many debates in Norway too. People feel like the borders have been kept too open and people are pissed at those that just drop on and live on wellfare, mistreat women, refuse to learn the language, demand their religion be considered at all times, and call racism as soon as you imply that maybe they should try being integrated into society rather than live separated from it.

Much like everywhere else it makes life worse for second generation immigrants who live and think as any other citizen, it makes life hell for those who don't condone the behavior of those mentioned before, and it's made a lot of norwegians incredibly wary of immigration. Of course the opposing parties are crying racism and xenophobia, of course that gets countered with "we don't wanna lose our culture, the muslims want to integrate us into the borg" and overall it's the same shitshow as everywhere else even though we're not technically part of the EU.

It's the same fucking song and dance absolutely bloody everywhere.
