So, apparently at the GDC there was a bit of a surprise award for No Man's Sky. It managed to win the Innovation Award, reserved for games that… ahem: recognizes games that demonstrate true innovation, advance the state of the art, and push the boundaries of games as an expressive medium. (Escapist Thread where I first found out)

Apparently, this was such a surprise that the Developers themselves didn't bother to turn up. I, for one, do not blame them in the slightest.
